The worldsfirst fully positionable orthopedic X-Ray calibration & marking device. Designed specifically to work with TraumaCad surgical planning software.

OrthoMark now allows the variable of X-Ray magnification factor to be removed from the process of Orthopedic templating by positioning a 1 inch stainless steel ball at a precise anatomical plane. This allows surgical planning software to "calibrate" itself with the ball and ensure a precise measurement of the anatomy in question which, in turn, helps ensure that the appropriate prosthetic device is selected before surgery.

Historically, Orthopedic surgeons have used mylar or other plastic "overlays" in conjunction with standard film X-Rays to determine the appropriate prosthetic to be used in surgery. These overlays were constructed with a "built in" magnification factor designed to be used with standard X-Ray film. With the introduction and rapid implementation of digital imaging (DR {Digital or Direct Radiography} & CR {Computed Radiography}), Many surgeons found that this particular aspect had been all but forgotten. Many facilities were printing Orthopedic X-Rays from their PACS systems and finding that "true sizing" was not always "true sizing" and that their standard overlays were not providing the precise measurements necessary to quickly and effectively plan for surgery.

It took some time for manufacturers of prosthetic devices to supply their digital templates but eventually several companies began to offer them and before long software packages for orthopedic templating became available.

Along with these templating packages came the need to be able to "calibrate" the dimensions of the anatomy of interest. With OrthoMark, we believe that we have achieved the best method all around to date. When we say "best" we mean from the technologist to surgery, we believe this device will function better than any other on the market currently.
